Roll-off containers for Siesta Key homes and jobsites
Siesta Key is a barrier island reached by two drawbridges — Siesta Drive at the north end and Stickney Point Road at the middle — and from the yard it is about thirty-five minutes on a good morning and considerably more than that on a February afternoon. There is no third way on. When a bridge opens, or when the beach parking backs up Stickney Point, everything behind it waits, so we set Siesta early and we do not promise tight afternoon windows we cannot hold.
The building stock runs from 1950s and 1960s beach cottages and mid-century houses through canal and Grand Canal properties to condo buildings of every vintage along Midnight Pass Road and Beach Road. Everything is slab-on-grade. Drives are short — often shell, brick or paver rather than poured concrete — lots are tight, and the streets off Higel and Midnight Pass are narrow with parking on both sides and heavy canopy in places. That combination is why container size on the key is a real decision rather than a default. A 10 or 15 yard box fits and gets serviced where a 30 simply cannot be set, and two swaps on a small box beats one delivery that never happens.
2024 is still the dominant fact here. Helene pushed a devastating surge across this island in late September without ever making landfall in the county, and Milton came ashore at Siesta Key barely two weeks later with the wind. Surge first, wind second, a fortnight apart, and the recovery from both is still running — elevations, full interior rebuilds, roof replacement, cage and dock work. On top of it, Florida’s milestone inspection and structural integrity reserve study requirements have condo associations here working through balconies, railings, walkways, spalling concrete, waterproofing and re-roofing on a legal timetable. Those requirements have been amended more than once, so an association should confirm its current obligations with its own attorney and engineer.
What we know about working in Siesta Key
Nothing on the key happens without planning the placement first. Condo and association work needs board approval for where the container sits, and where a box would narrow a drive aisle or a fire lane it needs the fire marshal’s sign-off too — get both before you book a date, not after. On single family lots, the short shell and paver drives are the constraint: protection boards go down every time, we will set on the firmest part of the approach, and we will tell you honestly if the only workable spot is the apron. Sandy soil and a high water table mean soft ground gives way under a loaded truck, and a beach-side lot after three days of rain is exactly that. Low live oak and Australian pine limbs over narrow lanes are common, and the hoist arm needs clearance well above the height of the truck — tell us where the limb is and we will bring a shorter box rather than cut anything. Siesta Key is unincorporated Sarasota County, so right-of-way approval is a county matter; rules change, so confirm before you plan a street set. Keep vegetative debris as its own clean load, and keep nothing staged where runoff reaches the bay or the beach.

Getting a truck to you
US-41 south to Stickney Point Road and over the bridge for the middle and south end, or Siesta Drive and the north bridge for the Village side. Thirty-five minutes on a clear morning. Both are drawbridges and both back up — Stickney Point in particular in season and on beach weekends — so early sets are the rule here and afternoon windows are a gamble. Tell us the street width, the drive surface, whether there is a low limb over the approach, and whether the placement needs board or fire-marshal approval, and we will bring the container that actually fits.
Routes we run: US-41 south, then Stickney Point Road and the Stickney Point bridge, Siesta Drive and the north bridge, Midnight Pass Road the length of the key, Higel Avenue and Ocean Boulevard through the Village.

Permits, streets and placement in Siesta Key
On a private driveway in Siesta Key you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from FDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Sarasota County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.
Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and Florida DEP publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of Siesta Key. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Sarasota County.

Dumpster Rental in Siesta Key — FAQs
What size dumpster fits on Siesta Key?
Smaller than you would use on the mainland. Drives on the key are short and often shell or paver, lots are tight and the lanes are narrow, so a 10 or 15 yard container places and gets serviced where a 20 or 30 cannot. For a bigger job we would rather swap a small box twice than fail to deliver a large one. Send us the address and drive photos and we will tell you exactly what we can set.
Do I need condo board approval for a dumpster on the key?
For any association property, yes — the board decides where a container may sit and for how long, and where a box would narrow a drive aisle or a fire lane the fire marshal has to be satisfied as well. Sort both before you pick a delivery date. Association rules and local requirements change, so confirm the current position with your manager and with Sarasota County rather than relying on last year’s answer.
How do the bridges affect delivery times?
They set the schedule. Siesta Drive and Stickney Point are the only two ways onto the key and both are drawbridges. A bridge opening or a backed-up beach approach turns a thirty-five minute run into well over an hour, and that gets worse through season and on weekends. We book Siesta deliveries early in the day for that reason. If you need a specific afternoon window, tell us and we will route around it rather than over-promise.
How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Siesta Key?
Siesta Key is about 13 miles southwest of our 33rd Street East yard, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.
Do you charge extra to deliver to Siesta Key?
No. Siesta Key sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Sarasota. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.
What size dumpster do most Siesta Key customers take?
A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving brick, block, concrete or a chimney, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
