Roll-off containers for Palmetto homes and jobsites
Palmetto is straight up the road from us — north on 301 or 41, across the Manatee River, and we are there in twenty to twenty-five minutes. It is the working city on the north bank, older than most of what surrounds it, and it has stayed a place where people build boats, pack produce and run trades rather than a place that was planned in one go. That shows up in the container work: as much commercial and light industrial as residential, and a lot of it repeat.
Residentially, Palmetto is post-war and mid-century block on a grid, with older frame houses near the river and along Riverside Drive, newer subdivisions filling in north and east, and a good deal of rental stock in between. Everything is slab-on-grade. The mid-century houses hold the usual surprises when the carpet comes up — terrazzo worth keeping in a lot of cases — and the pre-1980 stock carries the usual cautions: asbestos is a real possibility in floor tile and mastic, pipe and duct wrap, textured ceilings and roofing felt, and pre-1978 houses fall under the EPA RRP lead rule. We cannot take asbestos-containing material in any container, so get a survey before a gut.
The commercial side is what makes Palmetto different from its neighbours. Marine businesses along the river, agricultural and packing operations north and east, and a steady flow of small industrial tenant turnover generate loads that are heavier and less tidy than a residential remodel — pallets, packaging, fixtures, shop clear-outs and mixed demolition. We size for weight rather than volume on those, and we would rather set a 20 that goes out legal than a 40 that cannot be lifted. Add re-roofs, storm work after the 2024 season and the ordinary residential turnover, and Palmetto keeps a truck busy on its own.
What we know about working in Palmetto
Palmetto is its own city with its own permitting and right-of-way process, and unincorporated Manatee County starts immediately outside it — two separate answers to the same question depending on which side of a line your address falls. Neither is Sarasota County. A private driveway generally needs no approval; a street or right-of-way placement normally does, and on US-41 or US-301 an FDOT question can enter as well because both are state routes. Requirements change, so confirm with the City of Palmetto or Manatee County before you plan on a street set. On the ground, the older grid streets have narrow drives and mature live oak canopy, and the hoist arm needs clearance well above the truck to raise and set a box — tell us about a low limb and we will bring a shorter container rather than force it. Sandy soil and a high water table mean a soft side yard will rut under a loaded truck, especially near the river; protection boards go down every time. Keep yard trash separate from construction debris — live oak, sabal palm and Australian pine ride as a clean load to a mulching facility, not mixed into a demolition box.

Getting a truck to you
North out of the yard on US-301 or across to US-41 and over the Green Bridge. Twenty to twenty-five minutes. The two river bridges are the only real variables and they slow at commute hours, plus fair and event traffic around the fairgrounds a few weeks a year. Snead Island and the Emerson Point end are narrower and more canopied than the grid, so tell us the drive surface and any low oak limb when you book. For commercial and marine addresses, give us the loading area and the hours we can get in and out, and we will build the run around it.
Routes we run: US-41 north over the Green Bridge across the Manatee River, US-301 north through Ellenton, 10th Street West and Riverside Drive, I-75 to exit 224 and west on US-301.

Permits, streets and placement in Palmetto
On a private driveway in Palmetto you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from FDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Manatee County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.
Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and Florida DEP publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of Palmetto. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Sarasota County.

Dumpster Rental in Palmetto — FAQs
Is Palmetto permitted by the city or by Manatee County?
It depends on the exact address. The City of Palmetto runs its own permitting and right-of-way process, and unincorporated Manatee County immediately outside it is separate again. A private driveway generally needs no approval either way; a street or right-of-way placement normally does, and a spot on US-41 or US-301 can involve FDOT because both are state routes. Confirm current requirements with the city or county before delivery day.
Do you handle commercial and marine business cleanouts?
Yes, and Palmetto is one of the places we do the most of it. Shop clear-outs, tenant turnovers, packing and warehouse material, fixtures and mixed demolition all come out heavier than people estimate, so we size on weight rather than volume — often a 20 loaded properly instead of a 40 loaded halfway. Give us your access hours and the loading area and we will schedule delivery and swaps around your operation.
What should I do about asbestos in an older Palmetto house?
Get it surveyed before you start. Pre-1980 Florida stock routinely carries asbestos in floor tile and mastic, pipe and duct wrap, textured ceilings, cement-asbestos siding and roofing felt, and pre-1978 houses fall under the EPA RRP lead rule. We cannot accept asbestos-containing material in any container. Florida DEP and the Department of Health regulate the work and demolition generally triggers an inspection and notification — confirm the current requirements with them.
How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Palmetto?
Palmetto is about 11 miles north of our 33rd Street East yard, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.
Do you charge extra to deliver to Palmetto?
No. Palmetto sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Sarasota. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.
What size dumpster do most Palmetto customers take?
A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving brick, block, concrete or a chimney, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
