North Port is the longest regular run we make — fifty-five minutes to an hour and change from the yard, straight down I-75 to Sumter or Toledo Blade and then into the grid. It is one of the largest cities by land area in Florida and it is mostly platted single family on big lots, laid out decades before it filled in, which means the addresses are spread across an enormous footprint with long distances between them. On your own driveway you generally need nothing. The practical constraints are the ground and the lots. Give us the cross streets, the drive length and whether the parcel is on septic, and tell us if the only approach is across a swale — that changes the plan. Permits, streets and placement in North Port

On a private driveway in North Port you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from FDOT where it is a state route.
