Why the jurisdiction matters more here than most places
Every city here runs its own rulebook
The container goes on your own property whenever we can manage it, and on most Sarasota lots that is easy — the drives are wide and the setbacks are generous. Put it on the street or the verge instead and you are into a right-of-way process, and the City of Sarasota, Bradenton, Palmetto, Parrish, Ellenton, Lakewood Ranch, Laurel, Longboat Key, Venice, Osprey, Gulf Gate, Bee Ridge, Fruitville, Nokomis and Sarasota County each run their own version of it. Out in the county there is usually no city permit at all, but there is something better worth knowing before the truck rolls: where the septic tank, the leach field and the well head sit, because a loaded box does not belong on any of them. Gated entrances, long lanes and cattle guards are the other thing to mention on the phone. Where it actually goes
Florida has no statewide ban on yard waste going to landfill, whatever you may have read, but clean brush is still worth keeping as a separate clean load: grass, leaves, limbs and tree trimmings with no lumber, wire or trash mixed in get ground for mulch instead of buried, and the City of Sarasota runs brush collection and a citizens collection station for exactly that. Florida keeps yard trash out of the solid waste stream, so vegetative debris has to ride as a separate clean load to a yard-waste or mulching facility rather than mixed into a construction load — get that wrong and the load gets reclassified at the scale. Slab on grade, brick veneer, and what that means for a cleanout
Housing here is slab-on-grade, almost all concrete block and stucco, and there is no basement adding a whole extra floor of contents. What there is instead is terrazzo under the carpet in the mid-century stock, which is far denser than the flooring people expect to pull, plus a lanai that quietly accumulates a decade of things. That single fact resets the sizing: what has to come out is the garage, the attic, the backyard shed and, more often than people admit, a rented storage unit that has been quietly filling for a decade. What the northern guides miss is the lanai — the screened room is where a Florida household quietly puts everything it has not decided about, and it is usually the biggest single contributor to a cleanout after the garage. The dense material in this market is concrete, brick, block, tile, sand and fill at roughly 2,400 to 2,800 lbs per cubic yard, which is what fills a container long before volume does. Lath and plaster is a sub-case, confined to the 1930s to 1950s stock in Palmer Ranch, the Burns Court district and Gulf Gate. Those same pre-1980 houses turn up asbestos in floor tile and black mastic, popcorn and textured ceilings, pipe wrap and roofing felt, and pre-1978 means lead paint under the EPA RRP rule. Asbestos work in Florida sits with the Florida Department of State Health Services under the Florida asbestos rules, demolition generally triggers a NESHAP inspection and notification, and we cannot take asbestos-containing material in any container. Storms, sand and the calendar
Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 and it decides a lot of our year. Helene and Milton in 2024 are the events people here measure against — Helene pushed a devastating surge across the keys in late September and Milton came ashore at Siesta Key barely two weeks later, with Ian in 2022 before them, and in the week after a named storm every container in Sarasota and Manatee is spoken for. Summer brings afternoon downpours as well, and a heaped open load takes on serious rain weight overnight — so keep the load level with the top rail where it can be tarped. Out in north Sarasota the drives and county roads are dirt, clay and crushed shell, firm when dry and soft under a loaded truck for a day or two after rain, and on the barrier islands the drives are sand, shell or paver. Low live oak limbs and service drops are the other constant — the hoist arm reaches above twenty feet. From November through April the seasonal population doubles, and the shoulder weeks either side — the arrivals in October and November, the closing-up rush in April and May — are when containers, cleaners and painters all book solid at once, so call early

No. Every city and community listed on this page sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Sarasota. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all in the number we quote you on the phone.
How far do you actually go?
Roughly a 50 mile radius from our 33rd St E yard, which covers Sarasota County end to end and reaches into Hockley, Terry, Crosby, Lynn, Hale, Lamb and Garza counties — Laurel and Bee Ridge at the top, Nokomis and Fruitville at the bottom, Ellenton and Osprey east, Venice and Gulf Gate west. We go further for multi-container jobs and contractor accounts. If your address is not on the list, call and ask — and if we cannot reach you we will usually know who can.
Can you deliver out to Gulf Gate, Bee Ridge or Nokomis?
Yes, with a conversation first. Long dirt and shell lanes, gates a truck cannot swing wide enough for, soft sand and low live oak limbs all affect which container we can get in and where it can safely sit, and sandy ground gives way under a loaded truck for a day or two after heavy rain. On an acreage, tell us where the septic tank, the leach field and the well head are so the box does not go over any of them. And from October through December, module trucks and gin traffic set the timing on the highways out that way. Give us the address and we will tell you honestly what will and will not work.
Which parts of Sarasota do you cover?
All of it. Our yard sits south of I-75 on 33rd St E out toward Siesta Key, so south Sarasota, the 82nd and Blue Angel Parkway corridors and the Milwaukee and Main Street side are short runs, Palmer Ranch, the Burns Court district and downtown are a straight shot up US-301 or Bahia Vista Street, and the north and east sides run on I-75, the John Ringling Causeway and US-41. Placement is what is worth a sentence on the phone: most drives here are wide and flat and take anything we own, the older grid near campus is tighter and sometimes has an alley behind, and around New College of Florida move-out in May and move-in in August the whole rental market turns over in the same two weeks, so book ahead.
