Venice is a real run — forty to fifty minutes from the yard depending on whether we take I-75 south to exit 193 or work down US-41 through Osprey, Laurel and Nokomis. We route it deliberately and we like a day of notice, because a Venice delivery is usually paired with a Nokomis or Osprey pickup so the truck is not running the Trail empty in one direction. Same-day happens here, but it depends on whether something is already headed south.

Downtown Venice is genuinely unusual for Florida. Venice is its own city and its own permitting authority, separate from Sarasota County around it, and unincorporated South Venice and the Jacaranda side are county rather than city — so the answer to a right-of-way question depends on which side of the line the address sits. On your own driveway you generally need nothing. In a city street, in the historic downtown grid or anywhere near the island bridges, expect a real approval process and expect it to take longer than you think. Confirm current requirements with the City of Venice or Sarasota County rather than assuming; both have changed their rules in recent years. Inside the 55-plus and villa communities there is a second layer — association rules routinely cap how many days a container can sit and where it can go, and condo buildings will want board approval and, where a container would narrow a fire lane, the fire marshal’s sign-off. The island and downtown streets are canopied and the drives are short, so tell us about low limbs and tight aprons up front. Vegetative debris here is live oak, sabal palm and Australian pine, and it rides as a separate clean load to a yard-waste facility rather than mixed into a construction box.

Permits, streets and placement in Venice

On a private driveway in Venice you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from FDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Sarasota County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery.
